SADIQABAD, Feb 27: Drinking and irrigation water has become a rare commodity in Cholistan for the last three months.
Dawn learnt on Monday that almost all the reservoirs had dried up while the standing crops had been damaged.
People have urged the Punjab governor and Cholistan irrigation managing director to ensure the supply of water at the earliest. They have also demanded remission in water rate.
ADULTERATION: Sale of adulterated oil and diesel is going without respite in Fatehpur Kamal, causing severe damage to agricultural equipment.
Residents in Fatehpur Kamal, Qadirpur, Zafarabad and Faridabad had pointed out that the sale of spurious diesel, petrol and mobil oil was soaring. They claimed those involved in crime had been pocketing bucks fast.
The protesters have urged the authorities concerned to take stock of the situation and relieve them of the evil.
