MULTAN, May 2: Work on the Rs1 billion Children’s Hospital Complex phase-II project, comprising 150 beds, will start soon.

This was stated by medical superintendent Dr Nazar Abbas Gardezi while talking to this agency here on Wednesday.

Buildings department XEN Riaz Ahmed Khan said the PC-1 would be re-submitted after including consultancy fee and updating the estimate due to lapse of time and price hike in the construction material.

He said if the case was pursued by the health department actively, it might take one month for final approval by the planning and development department.

Hospital MS Dr Gardezi said the next phase would comprise a five-storey building, including renal and bone marrow transplant facilities for children.

“The first phase of 150-bed hospital is already working where nearly 700 patients are being treated in the out-patient department (OPD) daily.”

With a capacity of only 150 beds, some 200 children were admitted to the wards, the MS said. — APP
