ISLAMABAD, May 1: The stage is set for another day of protests by lawyers and different political and civil society organisations outside the Supreme Court building here on Wednesday when Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry appears before the Supreme Judicial Council (SCJ) in a reference filed by President Pervez Musharraf.
As usual, members and supporters of different political parties and civil society organisations will gather outside the Supreme Court building to hold demonstrations in protest against what they call an assault on the independence of judiciary.
The Pakistan Bar Council says it is determined to continue observing a one-hour strike, but on May 2 court proceedings would be boycotted completely as lawyers would organise processions in all bar associations and outside the Supreme Court building.
