Chandna wins bridge tournament

KARACHI, April 30: Chandna mustered 88 victory points (VPs) to clinch the weekly Swiss League bridge tournament, said a news release of the Karachi Bridge Association (KBA) on Monday.

Chandna having services of Shakeel Chandna, Navid Anjum Zaidi, Anis-ur-Rehman and Shahab Sarki defeated Alliance 25-5, Puris 21-9 and Mushahid 17-13.

Chandna lost to Rais-IV 11-19 and Candyland 14-16.

Rais-IV having Rais Ahmed, Azwer-ul-Haque, Saleem Ahmed and Abdul Khaliq in their fold finished runners-up with difference of solitary point.

Qamar's Puri's were declared third with 84 VPs.

Earlier, in pairs’ contest, contesting from East-West direction, Khalid Mohiuddin-Ghufran Ashraf scored 66.34 per cent to win the title of the week.

Rais-Saleem scored 63.64 per cent for the second position while Tariq Zafar-Atiqur Rehman scored 57 per cent for third place.

Abdul Hameed-Ameer Hasan topped from North-South direction with score of 62.05 per cent.

Naseem and Nasim finished second with 54.55 and Asghar Naqvi-S.P. Jamal third with 53.64 per cent score.

The KBA is holding a May Day competition at the Aslam Memorial Hall, National Stadium, on Tuesday at 3pm.—Agencies
