PESHAWAR, April 30: The Peshawar Electric Supply Company (Pesco) has disconnected supply to various government departments in the province.
According to a statement issued here on Monday, Pesco snapped 12 connections of government departments located in the Hazara circle, including three of the education department, four of health, two of irrigation and three of the Public Health department; the company also recovered Rs7.1 million in the process.
Five power connections of the provincial and local government departments in Swat, including WSS Kalapani, Osakai, Utala Bagh, street light boosters and telephone exchange were disconnected for non-clearance of Rs.1.1 million outstanding arrears.
In Mardan, the connection of the irrigation departments was cut off for non-payment of Rs781,726.
Pesco has Rs1285.41 million outstanding arrears against different departments and had set April 26 as deadline for payment of dues.
APP ADDS: Chief Executive Pesco, Brig Sakhi Marjan, has directed all field offices to disconnect supply to defaulting institutions if they fail to deposit their outstanding arrears.
