LAHORE, April 29: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi said on Sunday the government would award proprietary rights of government land to those people affected by water-logging and salinity for Rs150 per acre in Jaranwala.
He was addressing a public meeting in Jaranwala, according to an official handout.
He also announced Rs5 million each for union councils of Jaranwala and postgraduate classes in five subjects in the Government Boys’ Degree College, Jaranwala. The chief minister said proprietary rights would be given to the dwellers in 13 Katchi Abadis. He said a double-lane Jaranwala-to-Khurianwala road would also be built. He also announced the establishment of a boys and a girls’ college in Khurianwala, the construction of Jaranwala Bypass and repair of all roads of the Jaranwala city.
Federal Law Minister Wasi Zafar, Provincial C and W Minister Zaheeruddin, MNA Asim Nazir and Jaranwala Tehsil Nazim Chaudhry Akram also addressed the public meeting.
Mr Elahi also met lawyers in Faisalabad and said some political parties were trying to politicise a constitutional issue which was lamentable.
Office-bearers of various bar associations were also present.
JOIN PML: Nazims and naib nazims of 57 union councils of Faisalabad belonging to the PPP and the PML-N called on the chief minister and announced joining the PML. They expressed their full confidence in the leadership of PML President Shujat Hussain and Mr Elahi.
