KARACHI, April 29: Representatives of various opposition political parties, trade unions and civil society organisations have pledged their participation in the protest march planned by the Anti-Najkari and Awami Haqooq Forum for Monday from Tower to Regal Chowk.

A representative group announced this at a press conference held at the Jamaat-i-Islami’s office, Idara Noor-i-Haq, here on Sunday. Afif Alvi, Raheel Iqbal, Muslim Pervez, Manzoor Razi, Zubair Khan, Azhar Jamil, Shafiq Ghauri, Syed Hameed Ahmad, Omaim Shibli and Shah Noor were among those who spoke to the newsmen.

They asked the government to take every decision in the interest of the country instead of following the dictates of the International Monetary Fund, World Bank and other such financial institutions.

They said that the purpose of holding the march was to inform and warn the masses of the devastating consequences of the policies, including privatisation, being pursued by the government. They referred to the privatisation of the KESC as one such example.
