OKARA, April 27: Police have arrested four members of a gang involved in forgery.
City A Division police said on Friday they intercepted a car near district courts complex and arrested Fayyaz Bari, Rashid, Amjad Ali and Tariq and recovered 480 forged driving licences of different people, 99 blank licence books, 50 driving licence books of government of Punjab and Sindh, 11 blank passport books, dozens of college and school certificates, domicile certificates, stamps of different officers, including two stamps of DPOs of Sahiwal and Nawabshah, stamp pads, printers and Rs8,000 in cash from their possession.
Further investigations are on.
ACCIDENT: A lawyer and his clerk were killed while an unidentified man suffered serious injuries when a speeding bus hit their motorcycle in front of sports complex on the GT Road on Friday.
Advocate Malik Mumtaz Khokhar of Chak 43/4-L was riding to his home on his motorcycle with his clerk Yousaf and an unidentified man when the bus (SEL-5827) knocked them down. Mumtaz and Yousaf died on the spot while their third pillion suffered injuries and admitted to hospital.
Okara Saddar police have impounded the bus and registered a case against the absconding bus driver.
PPP PROTEST: A group of PPP workers on Friday staged a two-hour sit-in outside Okara Press Club against the alleged corruption and their manhandling by their rival group in the party election two days ago.
PPP activists led by sub divisional president Abdul Sattar Wahla, Rai Mujtaba Kharal, Rao Rafique, Shafqat Rabbani, Syed Ijaz Gilani, Abrar Farooq and Azam Khan chanted slogans against their manhandling by the PPP district president group.
They demanded the party chairperson to look into the matter.
