GUJRANWALA, April 25: The National Accountability Bureau is gleaning information about the whereabouts of the people who got their money doubled from Sibtul Hassan Shah alias Double Shah and the bank accounts of many clients have already been frozen after scrutiny of the record, it is learnt on Wednesday.
Sources told Dawn that the police and the NAB had also prepared the list of those people, including journalists, who had extorted money from the accused by blackmailing him. Scores of influential people, mostly government officials, had taken money from the accused during the last one and-a-half year.
The law enforcers also wanted to know the sources of income of the depositors.
Double Shah — the man who won many a heart for doubling the amounts deposited with him — is on physical remand till April 27 and after that the NAB could get his physical remand for 90 days for further interrogation.
Taking to the street, the depositors have been demanding that their money should be returned but to their utter dismay a majority of the agents of the accused has usurped millions of rupees, though they have not been arrested so far.
