86,184 appearing in SSC exams

Hyderabad, April 17: About 86,184 students were appearing in the annual examinations for class IX and X which got under way on Tuesday in different districts of the province.

The Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Hyderabad has set up 183 examination centres, 81 of them were set up in educational institutions.

Sixty-two centres were set up in Hyderabad, 10 in Tando Allahyar, five in Tando Mohammad Khan, 21 in Badin, 19 in Thatta, 16 in Jamshoro, 12 in Dadu, 12 in Matiari and 25 in Nawabshah district.

The board has formed 10 vigilance teams to pay surprise visits to the centres to curb copy culture and use of unfair means in examinations.

Our Mirpurkhas correspondent adds: The central vigilance committee of the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Mirpurkhas led by board’s chairman Anwar Ahmed Zai paid surprise visits to three examination centres on the first day of annual examination for class IX and X on Tuesday and caught 27 candidates using unfair means.

The annual examinations got under way in Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Sanghar and Tharparkar districts. The board has 108 examination centres in four districts and over 50,000 candidates are appearing in examination.
