Mercury shoots up to 42oC

LAHORE, April 16: Lahorites experienced June-like temperatures as mercury shot up to 42 degrees Celsius on Monday with local Met Office forecasting partly cloudy weather with chances of dust-raising winds, thunderstorm, rain during the next 24 hours.

The maximum temperature rose by three degrees on Monday, making weather unbearably hot and forcing people to remain indoors, especially during noon.

The minimum temperature also rose to 21.5 degrees C.

As per synoptic situation, a low-pressure area lies over Balochistan and its trough is extending up to Punjab and the NWFP, which is likely to cause scattered dust/thunderstorm/ rain in Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Sargodha, Lahore, Multan and Faisalabad divisions.

Relative humidity remained at 36 per cent in the morning and 13 per cent in the evening.—APP
