Man injured in roof collapse

LAHORE, April 14: A man was injured when the roof of his house collapsed in the Green Town area on Saturday. Police said Muhammad Ali was repairing the roof of his house adjacent to the Jinnah Memorial School in B-II sector when it collapsed leaving Ali trapped in the debris.

Dozens of schoolchildren, teachers and policemen reached the collapsed house and rescued Ali, said teacher Rafeeq.

The injured was shifted to the Jinnah Hospital and discharged after treatment.

ACCIDENT: A 50-year-old man was run over by a train in the Badami Bagh area.

Police said Imtiaz Abbas, of Abbotabad, identified through his identity card, died while crossing railway line near Gate 5.

SUICIDE: A father of four hanged himself for the reason yet to be ascertained in the Ghaziabad area on Saturday.

Police claimed Afzal, alias Goga, of Panjpir Ghaziabad, was a heroin addict and hanged himself with a ceiling fan with a telephone wire.

The deceased is survived by his wife and four children who were in Gujranwala at the time of the incident.

In another incident, Khawar, 22, hanged himself over a marriage issue in the Shafeeqabad area on Saturday.

Police said Khawar, of Ameen Park, had been engaged with his paternal cousin, but he did not like her owing to her small height.

Despite of Khawar’s refusal not to marry her, his parents were stick to their stance, which led Khawar to self-killing.
