KARACHI, April 12: Punjab maintained their supremacy in the men's team squash tournament at the National Games when they overcame hosts Sindh by 2-1 to record their second successive win in pool A at the Roshan Khan-Jahangir Khan Squash Complex on Thursday.
Punjab who surpassed Navy in their firs tie got an early breakthrough when talented Farzan Rasheed blanked Sindh's M Naeem in the first singles' tie 9-3, 9-0, 9-5 in only 24 minutes.
Shoaib Hasan sealed victory for the talented outfit by defeating Shehroze 9-5, 10-9, 9-7 after a 42-minute fight.
Kashif Khan secured the consolation win for the home team after Aurangzaib skipped the third singles match after conceding 9-7 points.
In the other match of the group, Wapda handed a straight 3-0 defeat to Navy to earn winning points. NWFP got bye on the second day of team event.
Meanwhile, the battles at pool B of the events saw Pakistan Air Force, Army and Railways winning their matches with ease. PAF beat Police 3-0 while Army and Railways overcame HEC and Balochistan respectively with identical 3-0 margins. —PPI
