GUJRANWALA, April 6: The Water and Sanitation Agency authorities in Gujranwala have sought a Rs50 million grant from the Punjab government to pay the salaries of employees and meet other expenditures, it is learnt.

Sources said Wasa had failed to recover dues of Rs280 million from consumers and was in financial straits failing to pay the salaries of its staff and meet other expenses.

The agency had already severed connections of defaulters, they said, adding that it would be in serious difficulties if the grant was not given in time.

UPLIFT WORKS: The City District Government Gujranwala has asked the PTCL, the SNGPL and Wapda authorities to complete development works under the package recently announced by the president during his public meeting here.

Stern action would be taken against the officials who would make things worse by delaying projects or by damaging the roads for laying pipelines and cables after completion of construction of roads and streets. The warning was issued by District Nazim Fayyaz Ahmad Chattha at a meeting.
