PESHAWAR, April 6: Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Coordination Salim Saifullah Khan has said that the government is making efforts to Islamise the Constitution in its real spirit in accordance with the aspirations of people. Talking to ulema from Malakand Ageny here at his residence, the minister said that upholding the supremacy of Islam and its protection was priority of the government and assured that under the Constitution no law could be altered against the tenets of Islam.

He called upon ulema to preach the golden lesson of peace, tranquillity, patience and forgiveness to people which was the essence of Quran and Seeratun Nabi.

He said that the sacred life of Prophet Mohammad (Peace Be Upon Him) was full of the lesson of peace with non-Muslims, therefore, no one should think of inflicting damage on the life and property of his brother Muslim.

He said that great responsibility devolved on ulema for the maintenance of inter-faith unity. While referring to the release of leader of TNSM Maulana Soofi Mohammad, the federal minister said that his release would be made after fulfilling legal formalities and assured that the matter of his health would be taken up at the highest level.

Salim Saifullah Khan informed ulema about development projects worth billions of rupees initiated by the federal government in the Malakand Agency.

The minister expressed sorrow over the damage caused to the lives and properties of people of Chitral due to recent natural calamity and assured that the federal government would spare no effort in helping them.—APP
