ISLAMABAD, April 4: Pakistan and Iran are linked with the same faith, culture and traditions and promotion of Urdu and Persian literature could further promote communication between the two countries.
This was stated by the visiting Speaker of the Iranian Parliament (Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran), Prof Dr Gholam Ali Haddad Adel, who is also a renowned scholar, while speaking to scholars and intellectuals at a reception, hosted by the Pakistan Academy of Letters (PAL), here on Wednesday.
Paying tributes to Allama Iqbal, he said that his poetry was a treasure of knowledge. “Iqbal’s literature is like a tree and Urdu and Persian languages are its branches,” he said, adding “Iqbal is a great man who belongs to a great culture, thoughts and civilization.”—APP
