SAHIWAL, March 29: It took the Anti-corruption Establish-ment a decade to register a case against a tehsildar, patwari and a village headman (lumberdar) for an alleged fraud. Reports said one Muhammad Akram, a resident of Chak 90/6-R, inherited 16-kanal agricultural land. The village headman, Abdul Haq, with the connivance of former tehsildar Abdul Majeed Korotana and Patwari Noor Muhammad got the land transferred to Bashir Ahmed, the father of the headman, on Dec 31, 1997.
On a complaint filed by the actual owner of the land, the ACE initiated a probe into the matter, which kept on lingering for 10 whole years.
As the probe declared the revenue officials guilty, a case was registered against them under section 420 ,467 ,468 ,471 PPC and 5-2/47 PCA.
No arrest has been reported.
