PPP MPA re-arrested at jail gate

OKARA, March 26: The Okara police took district PPP president MPA Ashraf Sohna in custody on the door of Bahawalpur central jail on Monday soon after his release and got his physical remand from a civil court on Monday.

The police arrested him in case No 64/07 registered by City A-division police under section 506/b PPC. They produced him in the court of Okara civil judge and got his remand. The judge ordered police to produce him in the court on Tuesday (today).

Meanwhile, city PPP president Alam Sher Khan Lodhi termed Mr Sohna’s arrest political victimisation by the Punjab government.

He claimed that Mr Sohna was not nominated in the case in which he was arrested. Police, under the pressure of the government, managed supplementary statement of the complainant to involve him in the case.

He said a habeas corpus petition would be filed in the Lahore High Court.

WORKSHOP: A one-day workshop on the importance of vote, identity card and procedure for its formation was held in two degree colleges here on Monday.

Islamabad field operation centre’s Nawaz Rai conducted the workshop.
