PESHAWAR, Feb 25: Directorate of Information, NWFP, paid an amount of Rs5 million to various newspapers before Eid and pledged another Rs3 million after Eid as payments pending against advertisements published by them.

According to a handout on Monday, NWFP Governor Iftikhar Hussain Shah ordered the provincial information department to pay the stuck up advertisement dues to newspapers at the earliest.

It added that last year, on the instruction of the governor, the information department paid Rs10 million to the newspapers.
