Mansehra Bar invites Justice Iftikhar

MANSEHRA, March 25: Lawyers on Saturday invited ‘suspended’ Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry to address the Mansehra District Bar Association.

Speaking at a meeting of the association held here, lawyers discussed the situation arising out of the presidential reference against the chief justice.

They said that the lawyers would continue their struggle for the supremacy of the judiciary.

DBA president Shahjehan Khan presided over the meeting.

The meeting decided to continue the boycott of court proceedings.

It also said that lawyers would observe a huger strike on the call of the Pakistan Bar Council and the NWFP Bar Council.

ARD MEETING: The component parties of the Alliance for the Restoration of Democracy (ARD) on Sunday decided to organise a rally in protest against the suspension of the Chief Justice of Pakistan.

The decision in this connection was taken at a meeting which was attended by leaders of the People’s Party Parliamentarians, Muslim League (Nawaz) and other ARD parties.

The meeting said that the alliance would mobilise people to participate in the rally.
