KARACHI: Civil awards conferred

KARACHI, March 23: Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan on Friday decorated 26 individuals of the Sindh province with Pakistan Civil Awards, on behalf of the president at a ceremony held her at the Governor's House on Friday.

The governor conferred honour on the recipients on the occasion of Pakistan Day, for their outstanding performance in their respective fields.

The 14 recipients of Sitara-i-Imtiaz are Yasmeen Lari (Architecture & Engineering), Prof Dr Manzoor Hussain (Medicine), Tanveer Jamshed (Art, Designing), Prof Riazul Islam (Literature, History), Prof Sharifal Mujahid (Literature, History and Research), Qazi Asad Abid, (Literature, Journalism), the late Syed Shamsul Hassan (Public Services and Welfare), Suhail Wajahat Siddiqi (Public Services), Prof Abdul Ghaffar Billo (Public Services), Shuakat Ali Suleman (Public Services), Ahmed Chinnoy (Public Services), Badar Kazmi (Banking and Public Services), Humayon Murad (Public Services) and Tariq Rafi (Public Services).

President's award for ‘Pride of Performance’ was conferred on Mohsin Shirazi (Art, Acting), Ustaad Bashir Khan (Art, Music), Dr Fehmida Firdous (Public Services) and Mehwish Nadir Khan (Nursing).

Those who received Tamgha-i-Imtiaz are Mai Allah Wasai (Folk Singing), Junaid Jamshed (Singing), Col (retd.) Khan Mohammad (Photography), Nasiruddin Saami (Music), Asghar Ali Shah (Sports, Boxing), Dr Mohamamd Anwer Paracha (Social Work, Public Services), Dr Harchand Rai Lakhari (Public Services) and Abdul Salam (Public Services).

Sindh Chief Minister Arbab Rahim, provincial ministers, advisers and high military and civil officials also attended the event.

Sindh Chief Secretary Shakeel Durrani read out the citation of the awards at the event.—APP
