LONDON, March 22: British police arrested three men on Thursday in connection with the July 7, 2005 suicide bomb attacks that killed 52 commuters in London. The three were arrested by counter-terrorism police “on suspicion of the commission, preparation, or instigation of acts of terrorism” a police statement said.
“Two men, aged 23 and 30, were arrested shortly before 1:00 pm at Manchester Airport when they were due to catch a flight to Pakistan,” it said.
“A third man, aged 26, was arrested at a house in Leeds shortly after 4:00 pm”
The suspects were taken to a central London police station to be questioned.
Searches were under way at five houses in the area of Leeds, the northern city which was home to three of the bombers.
