Salary-seeking workers shot injured

KASUR, March 21: Six workers of a textile mills were injured on Wednesday when mill administrators allegedly opened fire on a mob of workers demanding their salaries due for many months. Scores of workers of Ahad Textile Mills in Phoolnagar had not received their salaries for many months while the mill owners were putting off the matter on various pretexts. More than two dozen workers, led by Nasir Baloch, were protesting when accused Mahmood Shah, Muhammad Khan, Faisal Shahzad and other officials opened fire at them leaving six workers, including Mr Baloch and Afzal Khan, injured. All injured were shifted to the tehsil headquarters hospital. Phoolnagar police registered a case and arrested five accused out of eight.
