MUZAFFARABAD, March 19: Two earthquake survivors were booked after they quarrelled with army officials associated with the Earthquake Reconstruction and Rehabilitation Authority (Erra), surveying the under-construction houses, it was learnt here on Monday.
Hawaldar Sher Afzal, member of an Erra survey team, complained in the FIR registered in the City Police Station that he and a soldier were manhandled by Siddique Hussain Shah and another unidentified man when they visited Kadalla village on Saturday for surveying houses being built there.
Police said a case had been registered against Mr Shah and the unknown man for attacking government officials and obstructing their job.
However, people of Kardalla village said the two sides had quarrelled after the military officials raised “objections” against Mr Shah’s construction despite its being in accordance with Erra guidelines."
They said that after a heated argument, the two officials had rung up their unit and five more soldiers, led by a naib-subedar, had arrived on the scene.
They verbally abused Mr Shah and threatened him of dire consequences and later got a case registered against him and the other man.
