50 stolen vehicles recovered

SIALKOT, March 19: The Muradpur police claimed on Monday to have arrested four members of an inter-provincial gang of car lifters and recovered 50 vehicles from their possession.

The Sialkot DPO told newsmen here that the accused, including a woman, used to take stolen and snatched vehicles to the NWFP from sale. He did not disclose their names. A case has been registered, the DPO said, adding that more arrests are likely during the next 24 hours in this regard.

ELECTROCUTED: A newly married youth, Muhammad Rizwan, was electrocuted after receiving an electric shock from a fodder cutting machine in his outhouse at Narang Chinna-Baddo Malhi, Narowal. He was laid to rest.

SHOT DEAD: A local trader was shot dead by three motorcyclists in Zafarwal-Shakargarh over an old enmity here on Monday.

Reports said Muhammad Iqbal was on his way home by a motorbike when three motorcyclists opened fire, killing him on the spot. He was father of three children. The accused reportedly belonged to the trader’s rival group.

Zafarwal police have registered a case with no arrest.

KIDNAPPED: Some unidentified armed men kidnapped a tractor-trolley driver, Muhammad Asif, for ransom from Daska city.

Later, the kidnappers contacted the family by Asif’s mobile number and demanded Rs200,000 ransom for his release.

Daska City police have registered a case with no arrest or recovery.
