GUJRAT, March 17: After Kharian circle police failed to rescue kidnapped people, the relatives of two cousins secured their release after giving Rs800,000 ransom to their captors near Kamoki.

Hasnain Asghar and Mushahid from Chak Pirana were kidnapped from Mandir in Kharian. Kidnappers demanded Rs10 million ransom from their families for their release but agreed on Rs800,000.

The families of the kidnapped people contacted the police but it failed to arrest the captors.

Police sources said the kidnappers received ransom at a deserted place near Kamoki.

It is the fourth kidnap for ransom incident in Kharian circle police’s precinct.

Earlier, Supreme Court official Tariq Bashir was released after paying Rs400,000 ransom, Pir Ghulam Rasool Rs700,000 and Sabir Mughal £240,000 in Britain.

However, the difference between the efficiency of local police and foreign police is that the Britain police not only arrested the captors but also seized the amount from them. Captors used mobile phone sims issued on bogus identity cards to contact kidnapped people’s families thus making difficult for police to know the whereabouts of the captors, police claimed.
