JACOBABAD, March 14: Whether or not it was negligence of the doctor or the fate of the young man who died within two hours of an operation, the thing which claimed his life, according to sources, was loss of blood. However, his grieved relatives claim the removal of his kidneys.
The angry residents of Dongar village, Jacobabad taluka, took out a procession on Wednesday to protest against the alleged carelessness of an orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Anwar Wagan of the Jacobabad Civil Hospital. If one believes the loss of blood then why did not the doctor get it arranged beforehand; how long did the patient stay in the recovery room; was he shifted to the Intensive Care Unit, which is a normal practice in cases of operations where anaesthesia is given to the patient.
Dad Mohammad Channa, father of the deceased, blamed doctor’s negligence in the case of his son.To disperse the protestors, heavy contingents of police were called out and the agitators, on persuasion of DPO Munir Ahmed Khuhro that action would be taken against the doctor, cleared the highway.
An FIR under section 319, 34/07 PPC had been lodged at the Civil Lines police station against the doctor and his staff.
Dawn contacted the civil surgeon according to whom Saeed Ahmed was admitted to the emergency ward where he was operated upon but later on went into coma due to loss of blood. The surgeon also refuted the charge of the deceased’s relatives that his kidneys were removed.
