Body of Chinese guard sent back

SHEIKHUPURA, March 13: The body of a security guard who was killed by two robbers on Monday, was sent to Islamabad on Tuesday from where it would be dispatched to China on Wednesday.

Guard Leewo was posted at a peter engines manufacturing factory, being run in collaboration with China, on the GT Road in the limits of Ferozewala police.

Leewo and Ren were performing duties in the factory when the robbers stormed there. They opened fire when the guards put up resistance, killing Leewo on the spot. Ren retaliated and injured one of the dacoits who was later handed over to police.

Meanwhile, police claimed to have arrested the second robber on Tuesday.

Police are investigating.

UPLIFT WORKS: Punjab health minister Muhammad Iqbal Gujjar on Tuesday visited the local press club to attend a ceremony held to mark the completion of development works carried out in the club on a grant of one million of rupees provided by the chief minister.

In his speech, the minister said efforts would be made for acquiring a piece of land for the journalists colony in Sheikhupura. The minister also distributed medals and shields among journalists doing their duties excellency.

The ceremony was also attended by the district nazim Sahibzada Mian Jalil Ahmad Sharaqpuri, tehsil nazim Bilal Virk, senator Naeem Hussain Chattha, DPO Dr Shafiq Ahmad and DCO Muzafar Mehmood.
