Hundreds of cars, vans, motorcycles, jeeps and other vehicles formed part of the cavalcade which was led by the party's secretary general Jehangir Badar and former senator Syed Ali Nawaz Shah. PPP workers kept dancing on the tunes of popular party songs and participants threw rose petals on leaders and workers.
Sindh PPP president Syed Qaim Ali Shah, opposition leader in Sindh Assembly Nisar Khuhro, MNA Dr Fehmida Mirza, Syeda Abida Hussain and former foreign minister Sardar Assef Ahmed Ali also participated in the rally.
Traffic jam was witnessed in Hirabad, Tilak Charhi, Saddar, Miran Mohammad Shah Road and Hyderabad-Jamshoro road as the rally moved at snail's pace.
Jehangir Badar briefly spoke to the participants in front of the central jail, telling them that the PPP would take that struggle to its logical end with the help of its workers. He said that only Benazir Bhutto could save the country and end joblessness, injustices and unrest.
SEHWAN SHRINE: PPP MNA Nawab Abdul Ghani Talpur has said that leakage of water from the dome of the tomb of Qalandar Lal Shahbaz has created resentment among the devotees, reports our bureau.
In a statement faxed to Dawn here on Monday, he said that the managing director of the National Construction Company had assured the National Assembly's standing committee for housing and works at its meeting in Sehwan that the dome would be repaired in two weeks to prevent water leakage. However, the situation remained the same even after two months, he deplored.
He alleged that the repair works was being delayed due to a dispute over commission between the Auqaf department and the company.
