Dacoit injured in ‘encounter’

VEHARI, Feb 22: A dacoit sustained serious injuries while one of his accomplices was arrested on Thursday night after a brief shootout at Chak 27-WB.

Acting on a tip-off, the police raided the hideout of outlaws. On seeing the police, three dacoits opened fire on them which was returned. In a brief shootout, a dacoit identified as Manzoor Ahmed received critical wounds, while police arrested another outlaw Ghulam Rasool with the help of area people. Their third accomplice Umar Draz however managed to escape from the scene.

They were wanted by police in half a dozen cases, including dacoity and theft, police claimed.
