Control rooms set up to ensure cleanliness

RAWALPINDI, Feb 22: The Tehsil Municipal Administration (TMA) has set up control rooms to supervise the removal of offal of sacrificial animals and maintain cleanliness in the city on Eidul Azha, an official handout issued here on Friday stated.

The municipal officials said the holidays of the required staff had been cancelled and they would not be allowed to take leave even under “exceptional circumstances”.

“The control rooms shall be responsible for the surveillance and overall control of the cleanliness operation for the removal and disposal of entrails and other offal of sacrificial animals. It would also ensure proper logistics and mobilization of equipment and vehicles to wherever needed,” the press note said.

The city has been divided into four sectors each having its own control centre and staff.

These control rooms can be accessed at telephone numbers 5770565, 5553587, 5770886, 5772122.

The TMA staff will visit designated areas in this regard. People have been advised to keep the animal remains at visible places near their houses for collection by the sanitation staff.

They have been asked not to throw the entrails and wastes of the sacrificial animals along the open drains and ravines, open grounds, or along roads.
