KARACHI, March 8: The Karachi Water and Sewerage Board has decided to establish hydrants in all the 18 towns to supply water through tankers at reasonable rates to the areas where piped water is not available.

A meeting of KWSB officials was held Thursday with its vice chairman and MPA Imamuddin Shehzad at his office, which was also attended by KWSB managing director Brig Iftikhar Haider, zonal chief engineers and superintending engineers of different towns.

The meeting was told that at present there were only nine hydrants in the city, which could not cater to the needs of the increasing population.

The officials said that locations for setting up of the hydrants were identified and work would be initiated soon while the expenditures would be met jointly by the concerned towns and the KWSB.
