PESHAWAR, March 7: The NWFP chapter of the South Asia Free Media Association (Safma) would hold elections of the Tribal Union of Journalists (TUJ) next month to end differences among journalists from Federally Administered Tribal Areas.

The single elected TUJ would be recognised as the representative body of the tribal journalists who are presently divided into two groups. Safma would hold the elections at Peshawar Press Club on 8th April and voter’s lists would be displayed within two days at Peshawar Press Club, it was decided at a meeting headed by president Safma, NWFP chapter, Rahimullah Yousafzai, at Peshawar Press Club on Wednesday.

The meeting also formed two committees including election committee and constitution committee to prepare a constitution for the TUJ and hold election next month.

Tribal journalists have agreed that the representatives of those newspapers which are registered with Peshawar Press Club and are working in tribal areas would be eligible to take part in TUJ election, Ismail Khan said.—Bureau
