KARACHI, Feb 22: The Labour Party Pakistan, Sindh, has decided that a grand alliance of the left wing parties would be forged for contesting the general elections in October 2002.

The decision was taken at a meeting held on Thursday and presided over by the party’s central senior vice-chairman, Makhdoom Rashid.

Expressing the apprehension that if the general elections were held under the present government, they would not be fair, the meeting demanded a provisional government to conduct the elections.

It also demanded like Nazims and Naib Nazims, the councillors should also be paid salaries not less than Rs3000.

Chairman Labour Party Pakistan (Sindh), Dost Muhammad Chana, and other leaders also addressed the meeting.—PPI
