HYDERABAD, March 5: The government had taken an initiative to resolve sewerage and drainage issues which the city was facing, said Sindh minister for local bodies Mohammad Hussain on Sunday.

Addressing the last day of flower exhibition organised during the Urs of Shah Latif Bhittai, he hoped that soon Hyderabad would be counted among the developed cities.

Another problem was the supply of safe drinking water which was also being looked into and a filter plant had been installed in this regard, he said adding: `This would increase storage capacity as a separate pipeline was laid to connect it with the Kotri downstream for overcoming shortages during closure of the River Indus.’

He said that since many projects were being executed simultaneously, political opponents were trying to clamour on these. He said initially public felt disgusted but now their problems have been alleviated.—BoC
