LAHORE, March 2: Punjab PPP Information Secretary Farzana Raja has expressed concern over government’s non-serious attitude towards investigation to the confession made by Muhammad Sarwar, the alleged assassin of Zille Huma, that he had also planned to kill Ms Benazir Bhutto.
In her statement on Friday, she said the PPP had already objected to the holding of investigation by the ‘Intelligence Bureau’ and demanded a judicial probe into the matter.
She said an independent investigation was required to find out the links of the killer, and it was in this context that the PPP was demanding establishment of a high-level judicial inquiry into the killer’s plan to assassinate Ms Bhutto in 1993.
The PPP leader said it was a matter of concern that the government had turned a deaf ear to the confession made by the serial killer.
Criticising the government for the worsening law and order situation, she said the government had failed to protect the lives and the dignity of women despite passing the Women Protection Act.
