KARACHI, March 2; A three-member board constituted to examine a 15-year old epilepsy patient, on Friday visited the Aga Khan University Hospital where the patient in question is admitted for six and a half months, said sources in the health department.

The Sindh Health department had notified the medical board in question, with Dr Abdullah, a senior professor of neurology, of the Dow University of Health Sciences, on February 21 as the head to report its findings and recommendations in a week.

A member of the committee said the board if required could visit the hospital again, while a report was likely to be furnished within five days. As per the terms of reference assigned to the board, we do not see a need to meet the parents of the patient.

A member of the patient’s family said on Friday the parents were unable to see their ailing son in view of “uncalled for conditions imposed by the hospital and attitude of some personnel.”

An NGO, The Custodian appealed to Prince Karim Aga Khan to intervene and set up a committee of professionals to look into the parents grievances and other affairs of the university hospital.
