MANDI BAHAUDDIN, March 1: An ASI who murdered a kabaddi player for converting to Qadianiat, surrendered before Qadirabad police.

Ashraf alias Jheera of Mauza Seeray, became Qadiani a few days ago. His brother Waheed made announcement in the local mosque urging people to boycott him.

ASI Riaz Gondal, serving at the District Police Lines here, got infuriated on Thursday morning when Ashraf was opening his shop and shot him dead on the spot.

Later, Riaz told mediamen at the police station that he had done nothing wrong and applied Islamic law which prescribed death for apostasy.
