NAUSHAHRO FEROZE, Feb 28: It started raining in and around the district late on Tuesday night and continued on Wednesday, much to the dismay of farmers who said that rain at this time of the year would harm the standing wheat crop.
Rainwater mixed with overflowing sewage from choked gutters accumulated on almost all the roads and streets, rendering the drainage system in Naushahro Feroze, Moro, Tharushah, Bhirya, Bhirya Road, Mithiani, Padidan, Kandiaro, Halani, Mehrabpur completely ineffective.
Areas along the Station Road, Police Station Road, Padidan Road and Allahwala Chowk were under knee-deep water and all the main markets and bazaars had been submerged. The sky was still overcast with dark clouds predicting more rains in the district.
JACOBABAD: Life in Jacobabad and Kashmore came to a standstill as a result of rains on Wednesday. Business activities were almost suspended due to stagnant rain water and mud spreading over the roads.
MIRPURKHAS: Mirpurkhas city and its outskirts received intermittent rain which affected business activities. Various parts of the town plunged into darkness while water supply to the city also disrupted due to power failure. Roads became slippery as a number of motorcyclists slipped.
NAWABSHAH: Nawabshah and adjoining areas including Daur, Jam Saheb, 60-miles, Buchheri and other areas received light rain, on Wednesday. The weather became pleasant. However, power breakdown was reported from different areas. According to the local Met Office, the spell would continue for two more days.
DADU: Dadu and its adjoining areas including Johi, Phulji, Khudabad, Wahi Pandhi, Mehar and Khairpur Nathan Shah towns received heavy rains which affected power supply and vehicular traffic. Low-lying areas of Dadu and Phulji were inundated. It was raining till the filling of this report.
