DADU, Feb 27: The members of the Dadu taluka council, through a resolution, have demanded basic development schemes in Muradabad and Pipri union councils through the funds of the BHP, an oil and gas exploring company.

The meeting was held on Tuesday and presided over by Taluka Naib Nazim Murad Ali Shah.

A member, Rehmatullah Lund, tabled a motion, stating that the BHP was extracting oil and gas from the area since 1998 but basic development works were not carried out in Muradabad and Pipri.

He demanded of the BHP to spend 12 per cent of its income on the development schemes.

The council adopted the resolution, calling upon President Gen Musharraf and the president of the BHP to implement the agreement signed between the federal ministry of oil and gas and natural resources and the company.

Another member, Anwar Mallah, complained that the city’s drainage and sanitation system had collapsed which was causing gastroenteritis as water supply pipes were broken and the people were consuming unhygienic water.

Woman councillor Soni Solangi demanded of the TMA to initiate work on developments schemes and sanction funds for abandoned schemes.
