KARACHI, Feb 23: Vice-chairman of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board MPA Mohammad Moin Khan has asked officials of the Board to take immediate steps to plug pipeline leakages and ensure regular and equitable supply of water to all localities.
Presiding over a meeting of KWSB engineers in his office here on Friday, he stressed the need for efforts towards improving water supply system so that a shortage in the upcoming summer could be avoided.
He warned that strict action would be taken against those who failed to maintain proper water supply and sewerage system in their respective jurisdictions.
The meeting was attended by chief engineers and superintending engineers of various zones.
The engineers pointed out that four UCs of Baldia Town did not have sewerage system but steps were being taken for laying sewerage lines.
Work on laying a sewerage line in UC 5 at a cost of Rs17 million under the Tameer-i-Karachi Programme was in progress, they added.
