LAHORE, Feb 18: Four members of a family were burnt to death when a fire broke out in their house in Sabzazar on Sunday.
Police said Manti Bibi and her children Shazia, Shafeeq and Asia were asleep in a room of their rented house in New Madina Colony leaving a gas stove on when a piece of cloth lying by the stove caught fire and engulfed the whole room.
A neighbourer girl came to the house at 7:30am from the already open gate, saw smoke and flames billowing out of the house and informed the house owner’s wife and other neighbours about the fire.
Edhi and Rescue 1122 ambulances arrived at the fire scene followed by police, extinguished the fire and removed the bodies from the house.
Police handed over the bodies to Jameel, the elder son of Manti, who took them to their native town, Bhai Pheru, for burial.
Jameel is an employee with a kiln in Bhai Pheru and he was on duty at the time of the tragedy.
ROOF COLLASPE: A boy was killed while his sister was injured when the roof of their mud-house collapsed in Kot Lakhpat on Sunday.
Adnan and Aneela, children of labourer Ashraf, were asleep in their house in Quaid-e-Millat Colony II when the roof collapsed. Adnan died instantly while Aneela was hospitalised.
Police said Ashraf and other family members were present on the roof and busy repairing it when it collapsed.
Houses Looted: Four bandits looted cash, jewellery and valuables worth Rs200,000 from a house in Johar Town area on Sunday.
Reports said that armed dacoits entered the house of Ahmed Ayyaz at S-Block, held the inmates hostage and managed their escape with the loot.
Three gunmen barged into UK-based Shahid’s house at Marghazar Colony in Hanjarwal area, made all the family members hostage, collected cash, jewellery and valuables worth hundreds of thousands of rupees and fled.
Meanwhile, two robbers intercepted a passer-by in Gulberg area and snatched cash and cell phone from him.
Armed men in Johar Town, Baghbanpura, Factory Area and Shadbagh areas deprived four people of cash and cell phones. —Staff Reporter
