KASUR, Feb 18: The Kasur additional district and sessions court judge on Saturday asked the Punjab home secretary to allow the trial of blasphemy accused Martha Bibi from Changa Manga on premises of the Kasur jail.

On Feb 13, Legal Inspector Qamaruzaman informed the district and sessions court judge that the district police officer wanted the trial inside the jail as the appearance of the blasphemy accused in the court could create the law and order situation.

At this the judge referred the case to the additional and district sessions judge for proceeding.

On Saturday, the legal inspector said, “People are very aggressive due to the nefarious act of the accused.

It is feared that if the trial of the accused is held in the court, any untoward incident may take place.”

The judge referred the case to the home department for permission to hold the trial on the jail premises.

Martha was arrested on Jan 22 under section 295C of the Pakistan Penal Code. Complainant Dilbur says that he was present at the shop of Ramzan along with Aslam when the accused entered an under-construction mosque and uttered “derogatory” remarks against the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him).

The case was registered at the Changa Manga police station.
