LAHORE, Feb 15: Chief Minister Pervaiz Elahi has imposed a ban on the posting of DSPs, SHOs and ASIs in their home districts. He has also issued orders for the transfer of such officers who are already serving in their home districts.

The chief minister has taken this decision in order to improve the law and order situation and the performance of the police force, says a handout.

Presiding over a meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat on Thursday, Pervaiz Elahi directed inspector general of Punjab police Ahmad Nasim not to post constables and head-constables in their respective police stations as well.

He said these measures would improve the police efficiency.

The meeting also decided to put a ban on reemployment of retired police officers.

The chief minister directed the IG to identify corrupt and notorious police officers and take action for their removal from service under the relevant laws.

He said that the police force should be further activated and all-out measures be adopted for busting criminal gangs as well as nabbing anti-social elements.

He said gambling and narcotics dens should be raided, and the elements involved in such activities apprehended.

The chief minister said raids should also be conducted for nabbing proclaimed offenders and cattle-lifters. He said the same cases should be registered against the patrons as were registered against the proclaimed offenders so that they could be awarded deterrent punishment.—APP
