OKARA, Feb 14: Police have registered cases against a member of the Provincial Assembly (MPA) under 16 Maintenance of Public Order and 506B of the Pakistan Penal Code.

MPA Ashraf Khan Sohna and his accomplices allegedly scuffled with special judicial magistrate Asif Rauf Khan, sales manager of a beverage company Muhammad Anwar and policemen and snatched the samples of beverages when they raided a shop.

The others who were nominated in the cases are: Akbar, Imran and Khalid. City traders’ representatives met with district coordination officer Chaudhry Muhammad Aslam Kamboh and tried to persue him to end the matter amicably but the DCO insisted on registering the cases.

The MPA said cases were fabricated and he would raise the issue on the floor of the house.
