Some books are to be donated

LAHORE, Feb 14: The Government College University, Lahore, has a collection of unique books donated by several academicians, literary personalities and men of letter that help varsity students and teachers enhance their intellectual capabilities.

This was stated by GCU vice-chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Aftab at the inaugural of Dr Waheed Qureshi’s collection of books, which he donated to the varsity’s library, at Bokhari Auditorium on Wednesday.

He said Dr Qureshi was a great literary figure of the present age. He stressed the students and faculty members to generate literature on humanities besides science studies.

GCU faculty of arts dean Prof Dr Sohail Ahmed khan said Dr Qureshi’s personal collection was a great addition to the varsity library and this would help students evolve their literary taste. Dr Qureshi talked about his decades-long association with his alma mater.

He also apprised the audience about his experiences of maintaining his literary collections in consonance with the decorum of the subject.

Punjab University Oriental College’s former Prof Dr Tabassum Kashmiri, Prof Dr Maskeen Ali Hijazi and GCU chief librarian Abdul Waheed also spoke.
