GUJRAT, Feb 11: Unidentified kidnappers on Sunday demanded Rs6 million ransom for the release of an expatriate who had been abducted from Head Jaggu, Sara-i-Alamgir, three days ago.

Reports said England-returned Pir Ghulam Rasool along with his two friends Liaquat and Akhtar alias Saeen, was on his way to Mirpur by his car (LOZ-4636). Near Head Jaggu, three gunmen intercepted them and boarded the car. They drove the vehicle towards Baisa Chowk on Bolani Road where they offloaded Liaquat and Akhtar at the deserted outhouse of Raja Masood Sarwar. Thereafter, they abandoned the car at Buttar village and escaped on foot along with Ghulam Rasool.

Police sources requesting anonymity said it was the second kidnap incident with Ghulam Rasool. Earlier, he had been kidnapped by some mafia men in England who set him free after getting Rs9 million about three months ago. Police sources said the family received a call from the cell of Pir, demanding Rs6 million for his release.

It is the second kidnap for ransom incident in Sara-i-Alamgir police precincts during the last two weeks. Earlier, Supreme Court office superintendent Tariq Bashir was kidnapped for Rs20 million ransom. The kidnappers had to set free the SC official when their car met with an accident near Kotla Arab Ali Khan.

After recording statement of the SC official, the police high-ups did nothing but transferred SHO Ali Akbar Shahzad, investigator SI Ghazanfar Baig and appointed Chaudhry Saeed as new SHO. The police are still clueless about both the cases. — Correspondent
