LAHORE, Feb 7: The LHC during proceedings into a petition against kite flying ordinance on Wednesday observed whether a sport like cricket would draw a ban if somebody dies after being hit by a ball.

The court, however, sought comments on the petition from the Punjab government without fixing any further date of hearing.

Justice Mian Najmuzzaman made the observation in the petition filed by advocate Muhammad Azhar, who had challenged the Punjab Kite Flying (amendment) Ordinance, 2007.

The petitioner prayed for a ban on kite flying on the ground that a number of deaths were caused by kite string.

The law company on Friday last had submitted a reply to the LHC chief justice through registrar office on objection of non-maintainability of the petition.

The registrar office on Thursday had returned the petition, objecting that the matter was already pending before the Supreme Court. The lawyer in his reply had submitted that the Ordinance was not under consideration before the Supreme

Court, and the objection put on the petition was vague and illegal.
