KHAIRPUR, Feb 5: Gunmen held hostage sub-engineer of the irrigation east division, Khairpur, Majeed Shah, in the jurisdiction of A-Section police station when he was on his way from Sathio wah after an official visit late on Sunday evening.

He was deprived of Rs10,000, mobile phone, wrist watch and the official record. The armed men also thrashed him when he resisted.

Later, the same group robbed labourers carrying out silt clearance at Sathio wah.
