PESHAWAR, Feb 2: Rejecting any compromise over Kashmir, the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) has announced that it will observe the Kashmir Day on Feb 5 with a great enthusiasm to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir.

“Kashmir is the jugular vein of Pakistan and nothing could separate the people of Kashmir from Pakistan but the incumbent rulers are planning to compromise over Kashmir and take a U-turn over like Afghanistan but no such plan would be allowed to implement,” MMA leaders Hakeem Abdul Waheed, Dr Iqbal Khalil, Maulana Merajuddin and Abdul Salam Salfi said at a joint a news conference at the Peshawar Press Club on Friday.

They vowed to observe the Kashmir Day, aiming to show solidarity with the people of Kashmir, with full zeal however, rallies would be avoided due to security reasons and seminars would be arranged to highlight the struggle for independence of Indian occupied Kashmir.

The MMA leaders said: ``Hundreds and thousands of Kashmiris had rendered their scarifies for the freedom of Kashmir but now the military-led government is compromising on the bloods of innocent people and backtracking from their real stance,’’ they added.

They went on to add that the Gen Musharraf-led government was floating new formula for the solution of the Kashmir issue, which were also supported by a player from Kashmir, however, they said Syed Ali Shah Gillani was the actual representative of the Kashmiris and that the MMA would support his stance.

The MMA leaders informed that the alliance would arrange seminars in Peshawar and rallies in Islamabad on February 5, in which central leaders of the alliance would participate.—APP
